Real quick - I have exactly two minutes to make this entry:
- I lost something very dear to me today. When I blow dried my hair this morning, I realized one of my diamond studs was not in my ear. Frank picked those earrings out and totally surprised me in 2003. I'd wanted diamond studs for a long time. After I went to sleep on Christmas Eve, Frank woke me up that night when he came to bed, and said he wondered if Santa would come this year. I laughed it off, because we'd agreed not to exchange gifts, and we were broke. I woke up on Christmas morning, and he said something about Santa again. When I went to take the dogs out, he asked what was in the tree. I looked a little more closely, and there was a little box, all wrapped by him, with these perfect little diamond earrings. These earrings are more special to me than any other piece of jewelry I own, including my wedding ring. I was devastated when I realized I lost one of them, and started to cry. I knew it was like looking for a needle in a haystack, but i tried retracing my steps, searching the bed, then the bathroom floor. In a last ditch effort, I looked in the bath tub. Lo and behold, I saw the earring in the tub. Miraculously, it hadn't washed down the drain (which has no cover). And after Frank took his shower, he found the earring back on the floor. Disaster averted!
- We're dogsitting for my parents for two weeks. They have a sweet English Bulldog named Windy. She's young and huge and playful and slobbery. She's also really good, and hasn't had a single accident in the house. She stays asleep all night, and is getting along better with Shamus & Uatu (who did not like her for the first few days).
- We spent the day yesterday tackling our yard. Mills came over to help (read: do most of it himself). I'm eternally grateful for his help. It was super sweet of him, and the yard now looks a thousand times better.
- I had to return a used lawnmower to Walmart today. We bought it yesterday, since our old one wasn't working. The new one only worked for a few minutes, then kept stalling out, despite adequate fluid levels. Hell = lugging a dirty lawnmower from one's house to one's car to Walmart's customer service center. Thankfully, they didn't give me any grief. Our old lawnmower started working again, miraculously, so all is well.
I guess this has been more like a 7 minute update than a 2 minute update. Off to bed!
